This is the second time we’ve stayed at the New Furano Hotel and we’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for simple hotel accommodation in a very good location.

Since we last visited, they now have a few staff that speak English, and there is wifi throughout the building rather than just in the lobby. The wifi worked very well even though it was a very peak time.

Our room was small but at least there was a couch where we could dump our gear and spread out a little.

The breakfast buffet was reasonable and provided enough variety for a couple of days, but possibly not if we’d have stayed for a week.

There is nothing “new” about the New Furano Hotel. It hasn’t been renovated and our room was small, old, and lacking any charm and the bathroom was very compact (as is often the case with the pod attached bathrooms in Japanese hotels).

However if you’re mostly there to ski, it’s a reasonable economical Furano hotel. The breakfast was somewhat simple but there were more than enough items to choose from.

The location is a major pro, so close to the Kitanomine slopes and we could pretty much ski in. It was easy to wander around to head to various bars and restaurants in the evening.

The staff spoke only very minimal English but were very willing to communicate via simple Jap-lish, gestures and google translate.
