Black Diamond Safaris

Black Diamond Safaris was established in 1996 and is locally owned and operated in Methven, Canterbury. All the BDS guides work with the staff on the ski field to ensure the best and safest conditions on the day. Hunting down fresh snow is their  job so relax, take in the atmosphere and terrain while they cater to your New Zealand alpine adventure.

Clubbies Max Pack

This is the best way to be introduced to the club fields because one of the BDS guides maximises your experience - from blue runs, instruction for off-piste terrain, double black backcountry, exploring the highest peaks, or just finding fresh snow all day. A guide is the key to exploring the club fields mountainous terrain. These fields are not like your average resort.

Skiing / boarding ability

To get the most out of the backcountry skiing adventure, you should be a "strong intermediate" or above skier. However BDS can customise a tour for your group if you are beginners as some of the club field have good beginner facilities.

Accommodation

There is no accommodation with this package however BDS offers a multi-day package (from 2 days) called The Snow Hunter where there are 2 possible base-camps for the Snow Hunter Tour:

  1. Methven - which is a bit further to travel to the club fields each day however there is a good variety of restaurants & bars if nightlife is important to you and your group
  2. Castle Hill - staying in lodge-style accommodation in the foothills of the Club Fields

If you wish to stay in Methven you can choose from a variety of accommodation (which may vary the price of the tour).

Black Diamond Safari's Terms & Conditions

Deposit and Full Payment

  • Deposit is 50% of the trip cost at the time of booking
  • The remaining balance is due before departure home from tour
  • Credit card payments may be made via Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express
  • All payments are in New Zealand dollars

Cancellation Policy

  • 100% refund up to 31 days from trip start date
  • Less than 31 days from trip date; no refund but can transfer to a future date at no extra cost

Cancellation by Black Diamond Safaris

  • Black Diamond Safaris reserves the right to cancel any program due to weather or route conditions. If a tour is cancelled before commencing, due to weather or route conditions, then a full refund will be given; however, Black Diamond Safaris is not responsible for any additional expenses incurred in preparing for the program (i.e., airline tickets, equipment purchase or rental, hotel reservations).

Children

  • Kids under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult/guardian
  • Tours will be adjusted to suite the ability of all participants
