Ryokan Biyunoyado
Ryokan Biyu No Yado (Ryokan Yudanaka View) is a large Yudanaka hotel that’s a great choice for your stay in snow monkey town. Being a ryokan, it provides a lovely Japanese cultural experience with Japanese style accommodation, various gorgeous onsen baths, taiko drum shows, and delicately prepared evening meals. However Ryokan Biyu No Yado also provides a few extras that make this Japanese hotel popular with western travellers. Some of the staff speak English, there is the option of a western style breakfast, the option of western beds, the option to sit on chairs for dinner (rather than the floor), and there is a large communal area that includes a bar for après ski drinks.
Where is Ryokan Biyu No Yado?
Ryokan Biyunoyado is located in the town of
Yudanaka, 700 metres southeast of the Yudanaka train station. The cute ryokan street of
Shibu Onsen is 1.5km to the east.
See our
Yudanaka page for information on getting to the town. The hotel provides free transport between the Yudanaka train station and the ryokan.
The
snow monkey onsen is very close by; only 3km to the trail head. A free shuttle is available to the snow monkey park.
Getting to the Ski Resorts
Biyu makes a great base to ski or snowboard at
Shiga Kogen. The Sun Valley area of Shiga is only 12km away. There are buses between Yudanaka and Shiga Kogen, although it takes a while to get there due to the frequent stops.
There are many other quality ski resorts near Yudanaka. A great way to explore these is with a Japan Powder Culture tour. The tours include accommodation at Ryokan Biyu No Yado, transport to the ski resorts, and guiding to show you the powder stashes (and the option of instruction):
